Social Media Club Louisville plans networking, social event

07-20-09- Most months, Social Media Club Louisville meetings are seminars on the latest and greatest in social media Web sites and new technology.

But for July’s meeting, the theme is “school’s out for summer,” said Jason Falls, SMC Louisville president.

“In lieu of a learning session or a speaker, we’re just having a networking event, with fun food and drinks,” said Falls, who also is director of social media Doe-Anderson Inc. “We’re just going to hang out.”

The July event is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the offices of SMC Louisville vice president Michelle Jones. Jones works at Block5, a communications startup company located at 720 W. Main St.

The event includes food, beverages, a shoe giveaway and funnel cakes.

In keeping with the festive theme, Falls said, his father, Chillie Falls, is bringing his Big Red Funnel Cake trailer, a fixture at sporting events and fairs, to Louisville from Owensboro for the SMC Louisville block party.

Hosting.com and Street Moda LLC, a shoe discounter, are sponsors for the SMC Louisville event, Fall said.

SMC Louisville is nonprofit media association.

The event is free, but attendees are asked to register in advance at the SMC Louisville Web site, www.smclouisville.org.
